Lango Stuff

At Lango, everything we do leads our students to two things: having fun, and learning a new language.

With this in mind, we've created our own materials - our "stuff" - that serve as instructional tools in class, and that give families a great way to reinforce instruction at home. When a child takes a Lango class, she doesn't just learn a language lesson; she reads from a storybook containing material from that lesson, and listens to music specially designed to reinforce the day's learning, and plays with memory/flashcards that challenge her to retain what she's learned in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Lango Kids

With dynamic, experienced and fluent teachers, kids follow the adventures of the "Lango Kids", our multicultural cast of characters and Cosmo the Lango bulldog. The children then learn through their own "adventures", music, games, art projects, and group activities.

Storybooks

Every new family receives a storybook upon enrolling in our Spanish or French classes. Lango's storybooks are the Adventures of Cosmo, a seasonal series of four books chronicling the activities of Cosmo and his friends, the Lango Kids. Each chapter centers conveys a specific set of vocabulary and grammatical topics; in class, our students learn those terms and topics by taking part in similar activities – "adventures" – as Cosmo. Kids of various ages love our colorful, playful storybooks, which provide a simple way to access a new language. Because the context and structure in which Chinese is used is very different from Spanish and French, we have found that storybooks are not typically helpful as at-home tools for our Mandarin students.

Music

Kids in Lango classes love learning as they sing and dance along with our music. We've developed our own music that is also aligned closely with our lessons, so not only do kids read about and mimic Cosmo's adventures in class, but they sing about them at home as well! Uniquely, Lango's music appeals to young and old children, and adults as well, proving highly accessible to learners of all levels while also conveying a cultural sensibility. We trust you'll love it as much as our students do!

Lango Spanish and Mandarin classes include Lango-developed music, while French classes employ traditional and contemporary children's music.

Memory/Flashcards

Supporting all of this are our memory/flashcards. Using the same kid-friendly illustrations as in our storybooks, we put these cards to use in a variety of ways in class, and then provide ideas for their use at home. Parents tell us that they find them to be a great tool for reinforcing instruction, and kids enjoy using them, as they feel comfortable seeing the same familiar images that they see elsewhere at Lango.
