As parents, we all want the best for our children.  There are many options for enriching their lives and one of the most powerful is through learning a second language.  In addition to the many academic benefits, learning a second language adds a layer of depth by bringing another culture into the life of a child and allowing them to see the world through another perspective.

ABC News featured a report about learning a second language, and interviewed Lango Managing Director, Michael Fee.  Here's an excerpt from the story:

"The best method is to learn face-to-face from native speakers," says Michael Fee, managing director of Lango, which is headquartered in San Francisco and offers Spanish, French and Mandarin classes for kids age 18 months to 9 years old.

"Learning a language is about learning to communicate, and communication isn't just learning new words," he says. "It's responding in context, watching facial muscles to learn how words are pronounced, learning gestures and inflection as well as vocabulary and grammar. CD's, DVD's and other non-human interaction can be a great support, but the foundation has to be real, human interaction."

At Lango North Atlanta, our goal is to provide fun and energetic language classes for kids that they will look forward to week after week.  Classes are 45 minutes long and are taught by teachers who are either native speakers or fully fluent in the language being taught. 

 

Lango was established on the belief that every American child should learn a second language. Frustrated by the lack of options to teach our own kids another language (and having met many other families with the same concern), we set out to create a program that would teach kids new languages in a way that kids will love. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, Lango teaches children ages 1-8 new languages in full immersion classes through culturally based music, art, games, stories and movement.
