Hello, I'm Gaby Karlsson, the Owner of Lango South Coast LLC, and I'm excited to bring quality foreign language classes to the children of South Orange County. My goal is to offer fun, effective Lango classes in convenient locations throughout the week. But what truly makes our classes successful? The answer to that question is most definitely our talented and devoted teachers.
Lango's teachers make our classes truly exceptional. In our selection process, we look for five distinct qualities: native/bilingual fluency, limitless positive energy, creativity, teaching experience with relevant age groups, and outstanding communication skills with both children and their parents. Beyond these qualities, though, our teachers bring unique cultural perspectives and professional backgrounds that enable them to create rich, engaging experiences in the classroom. Alicia "Gaby" Karlsson was raised in Mexico City and came to the United States when she was 23 years old. Gaby is excited to be a teacher for Lango as she always wanted to work with children because she values education and grew up in a big family. She especially likes the happiness and energy of children and their excitement for learning. She and her husband live in Laguna Niguel and have three boys: Jake (9) Diego (8) and Eli (5). Gaby’s husband is from Stockolm,Sweden, and their children are growing up in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual home. Gaby is excited to take over as Owner/Director as well as continuing to teach for Lango.
Victor "Hugo" Miranda was born and raised in Costa Rica. He migrated to the US at age 17. Hugo studied English Honors at Cal State Northridge. He later moved back to his native land where he taught English and Science to elementary school students. Then Hugo was given an opportunity to pursue a scholarship in Taiwan where he stayed 5 years until he mastered Mandarin Chinese. He funded his education there by tutoring English and Spanish to eager learners whose parents recognized the importance of learning multiple languages at an early age. Hugo enjoys being exposed to languages and cultures by way of movies, music and meeting new people.
Cecilia Zuniga Reese was born in Arequipa, Peru. Her childhood home was filled with foreign exchange students and deep interest and respect for the cultures of the world. Cecilia came to Southern California as a foreign exchange student for her senior year in high school. She returned to California in 1989 to pursue a college degree, where she graduated with a B.S. degree in International Business. After graduation Cecilia traveled throughout Europe for a year. Upon returning to the US—leveraging her International Business degree and language skills—she worked in the international arena, managing the Export Department for a large global firm for several years keeping herself in contact with people from Latin America. Cecilia enjoyed teaching at the American Institute in Peru, and she is currently working on a bilingual teaching credential. Cecilia enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful children who are being raised bilingual in Spanish and English. She is excited to join the Lango team as fostering a love of languages and cultures in children is a natural and very satisfying fit for her.
